Health Minister Clay Serby today announced a total capital investment

"Investing in capital projects helps ensure a more efficient delivery

of a wider range of services for residents in their communities,"

Serby said. "Revitalizing our health facilities across the province

is an important part of our ongoing investment in modern and secure

health services."

Projects approved to date include the following:

Athabasca Health Centre;

Balcarres Nursing Home and health facility;

Davidson Health Centre addition to nursing home;

Meadow Lake Hospital;

Regina Project '98;

Saskatoon Sherbrooke Phase II;

Shaunavon Nursing Home addition/hospital renovations; and

Unity Nursing Home addition/hospital renovations.

Saskatchewan Health is working with health districts to finalize

priorities for other capital projects.

The new investment is part of the 5.4 per cent increase to the

health system announced today as part of the 1998/99 provincial

budget. In all, the government is investing $1.72 billion in the

health of Saskatchewan people, Serby said.
