PAVING ON HIGHWAY NO. 8 ANNOUNCED

Released on June 19, 1998

Highways and Transportation Minister Judy Bradley today announced that

paving will begin in mid July on Highway No. 8 beginning at the

Junction of Highway No. 10 to the north for a distance of 22.6 km.

"We are working hard with this year's $219 million department budget

to improve the highways in this area and right across our province,"

Bradley said.

Warner Construction Ltd. was awarded the contract as the lowest of

eight bidders. The total cost is $2.3 million and an estimated 64

jobs will be used on the project. The work is expected to be

completed by the end of September 1998.

"In this busy construction season, we urge people to be patient and

use extra caution in the many construction and maintenance zones on

our highways," Bradley said. "Please remember the speed limit is

60 km in those zones."
