CAPITAL APPROVAL ANNOUNCED

Released on June 5, 1998

Health Minister Clay Serby today announced approval in principle for

an addition to the Lake-Wood Lodge nursing home in Big River.

The addition will offer acute services including

observation/assessment, convalescence, palliative and respite care.

The facility will also house emergency, diagnostics (lab & x-ray) and

community health services, along with existing long term care

services.

"We are investing in quality health services," Serby said. "The

provincial contribution for these projects will be determined once

agreements are finalized between the Parkland Health District and

Saskatchewan Health."

Capital proposals are reviewed by a Capital Evaluation Committee that

includes staff from Saskatchewan Health and representatives of health

districts.

This year's capital budget is $44.9 million, including previously

announced and newly approved projects.
