CAPITAL APPROVAL ANNOUNCED

Released on June 3, 1998

Health Minister Clay Serby today announced approval in principle for a

long term care facility for the East Central Health District. The

Yorkton nursing home project will provide heavy care services in a

home-like environment and enhance long term care programs available to

seniors in the district.



"We are investing in quality health services," Serby said. "The

provincial contribution for this project will be determined once

agreements are finalized between the district and Saskatchewan

Health."



Capital proposals are reviewed by a Capital Evaluation Committee that

includes staff from Saskatchewan Health and representatives of health

districts.



This year's capital budget is $44.9 million, including previously

announced and newly approved projects.
