Health Minister Clay Serby today announced two capital projects forthe Regina Health District. Approval in principle was granted for an
inpatient mental health unit at the Regina General Hospital and
improvements to the Cupar and District Nursing Home.
The new mental health facility will consolidate acute inpatient, day
patient and outpatient mental health services in a single space
designed for the purpose. The unit will have a home-like atmosphere
and include an outdoor courtyard. The renovation to the Cupar and
District Nursing Home will improve patient safety and service levels.
"We are investing in quality health services," Serby said. "The
provincial contribution for these projects will be determined once
agreements are finalized between the district and Saskatchewan
Health."
Capital proposals are reviewed by a Capital Evaluation Committee that
includes staff from Saskatchewan Health and representatives of health
districts.
This year's capital budget is $44.9 million, including spending on
previously announced and newly approved projects.
