CASINO FUNDS TO PROVIDE SUPPORT TO YOUTH

Released on July 28, 1998

Andy Renaud, MLA for Carrot River Valley today announced, on behalf of

Municipal Government Minister Carol Teichrob, that four Melfort and

area groups have received a total of $23,417 in casino profits through

the Associated Entities Fund.



"The province established the Associated Entities Fund to distribute a

portion of casino profits for the benefit of Saskatchewan people,"

Renaud said. "Since the beginning of 1997 nearly $3 million in casino

profits have been distributed throughout Saskatchewan for programs

that support children, youth and families."



The Kinistino and District Library Inc. received $3,000 for the

Kinistino Pre-School and Parenting Education Group. This program will

provide organized learning opportunities for Kinistino and area

preschoolers and their parents, targeting families unable to access

the preschool program and provide parents with education on parenting

skills.



The Food for all Coalition received $3,000 for a workshop to assist in

identifying, educating and raising awareness for solutions to hunger

for people at risk.



The Metis Heritage Corporation received $15,750 for the

Marguerite Riel Centre. The grant will be used for a hot lunch

program for children and parents and classes on nutrition, budget

and meal preparation, as well as a snack program for children.



The Tisdale RecPlex Day Care Centre received $1,667 for a program

that will provide parent education and support to teen parents

with infants enrolled in the RecPlex Day Care Centre.



Associated Entities Fund receives a portion of the profits from

Casino Regina, the Gold Eagle Casino, North Battleford, the

Northern Lights Casino, Prince Albert and the Painted Hand

Casino, Yorkton.
