Violet Stanger, MLA for Lloydminster today announced, on behalf ofMunicipal Affairs, Culture and Housing Minister Carol Teichrob, that
Midwest Food Resource Project Inc. of Turtleford received $25,000 from
casino profits through the Associated Entities Fund.
"The province established the Associated Entities Fund to distribute a
portion of casino profits for the benefit of Saskatchewan people,"
Stanger said. "Since the beginning of 1997 more than $3 million in
casino profits have been distributed throughout Saskatchewan for
programs that support children, youth and families."
The Kanaweyimik Child & Family Services, the Battleford Boys & Girls
Club and the Third Avenue United Church have formed the Midwest Food
Resource Project Inc. They are working together to support the
development of community kitchens. The kitchens will encourage the
development of personal skills for families in areas of nutrition,
budgeting and food handling.
Associated Entities Fund receives a portion of the profits from Casino
Regina, the Gold Eagle Casino, North Battleford, the Northern Lights
Casino, Prince Albert and the Painted Hand Casino, Yorkton.
