Social Services Minister Lorne Calvert, on behalf of Judy Bradley,
minister responsible for the Status of Women, today presented a Moose
Jaw women's organization with a grant to enable them to access the
Internet and train members to use the new communications technologies.
The Moose Jaw Transition House will receive $7,000 from the Women's
Organizations On Line Program, an initiative of the Saskatchewan
Women's Secretariat.
"This funding will enable the Moose Jaw Transition House to network
more easily, access information more quickly and serve the needs of
their members more effectively," Calvert said.
The Moose Jaw Women's Transition House offers a 16-bed emergency
shelter for women and their children. It provides a rural outreach
program which offers prevention and education programming, as well as
information and advocacy. The transition house also offers a
children's counselling program, which includes a therapy program for
children who witness violence.
