The following is a short summary of other items announced in todayþsprovincial budget from across government departments:
Lottery license fee reduced by $4.5 million
There will be a $4.5 million reduction in the lottery license fee paid
to the provincial government by the Saskatchewan Lotteries Trust Fund
for Sport, Culture and Recreation, as part of a new three-year
agreement between the trust and the provincial government. The trust
reappoints Sask Sport Inc., as the provincial marketing organization.
As a result of the reduction Sask Sport will be able to share the
additional funds with those community organizations that share in
lottery revenues.

Northern Housing receives $8 million over three years
Northern housing programs will receive $8 million over the next three
years to meet northern housing needs. Under the various programs,
assistance is available that will provide grants to assist low income
families to build their own homes or private developers, municipalities
or non-profit groups to construct affordable rental housing where there
is a critical need.

Additional policing initiatives receive $3.8 million
$1 million will provide more RCMP officers in rural Saskatchewan. An
additional $2.8 million will help develop and support community-based
restorative justice and Aboriginal justice programs that will help to
make the justice system more effective for victims, communities and
offenders.

Increased compensation for agricultural lessees
Effective April 1, agricultural lessees will be provided with a one-
time payment of $200 for each new wellhead drilled on their
agricultural Crown lease. On an annual basis, these same Crown lessees
will continue to receive a rental credit of $100 for each wellhead to a
maximum of 30 per cent of their agricultural rental.

Legislative Building to undergo emergency restoration
The Saskatchewan Property Management Corporation will undertake an
emergency restoration project on the Legislative Building to address
major structural deficiencies as well as upgrade the fire code and
accessibility standards. The design work and tendering will begin
immediately to allow construction as soon as possible. The restoration
will cost $5 million in this fiscal year.
