Released on June 16, 1997
Clay Serby, minister responsible for SGI, today announced thateffective June 25, 1997, Saskatchewan vehicle owners can conveniently
pay their vehicle registration through AutoPay.
"With AutoPay, vehicle owners can choose to have monthly vehicle
registration payments withdrawn automatically from their chequing
account," Serby said. "All they have to do is stop by their licence
issuer's office at renewal time with a void cheque. It's that easy."
Any vehicle owner is eligible to register all types of vehicles
through AutoPay, except commercial vehicles that travel
interprovincially.
"AutoPay is easy and convenient, and allows vehicle owners flexibility
in budgeting their money," Serby said. "It's a payment option
customers have been asking for."
AutoPay is step three in a three-step process to improve customer
service at SGI. Step one, Daily Vehicle Expiry, was introduced last
year. Instead of all registrations expiring at the end of the month,
they now expire on pre-determined, specific dates throughout the
month. Customers avoid the inconvenience of long month-end lineups.
Step two, the Short-Term Vehicle Registration and Insurance
program, was implemented last fall. Vehicle owners can choose to
register their vehicles for periods ranging from 89 to 364 days.
"Customer service is number one at SGI," Serby said. "These
vehicle registration initiatives were undertaken to offer more
choices and greater convenience to Saskatchewan motorists."
For more details on AutoPay, Short-Term or Daily Vehicle Expiry,
customers are asked to see their licence issuer or call SGI at
1-800-667-9868, 775-6900 in Regina.
