Released on April 29, 1997
Education Minister Pat Atkinson today announced that the Department ofEducation will provide $500,000 in 1997 toward further renovations to
Central Butte School.
"In March, the government released a good new budget for education,"
Atkinson said. "Capital grants to help upgrade and modernize our
schools increased by $5 million this year. It is because of this
increase that I am able to announce these renovations which will
enhance the quality of education in Central Butte. We are committed to
providing a safe and healthy learning environment for children
throughout Saskatchewan."
Once initial design work is completed, the Department will be able to
determine what additional funds will be required in 1998 to complete
the project. The renovations are required due to air quality problems
resulting from damaged sewer lines and air ducts under the school.
This project was split into phases to address the most serious health
and safety problems first. Phase one was done in 1994.
