PRAIRIECHEM INC. CONGRATULATED ON OPENING OF SASKATOON FACILITY

Released on February 7, 1996

Economic Development Minister Dwain Lingenfelter today congratulated
PrairieChem Inc. on the official opening of the company's renovated
warehouse and distribution facility in Saskatoon and the launch of its
recently formed Analytical Products and Process Systems (APPS)
Division.

"I'm pleased to see the growing number of companies positioning
themselves for the 21st century in our province," Lingenfelter said.
"PrairieChem is another example of an innovative Saskatchewan company
solidifying its position as a leading supplier of products and services
in research and development, as well as specialty manufacturing.

"Our public consultations are confirming that these are the enterprises
creating jobs and opportunities in Saskatchewan now and in the future.
We will continue our partnership efforts to create a climate of growth
to encourage this kind of activity."

PrairieChem is part of the PIC Investment Group Inc. headquartered in
Saskatoon.

The APPS Division of PrairieChem supplies specialty and fine chemicals,
as well as analytical laboratory and process control equipment. Its
customers include universities, industrial research and development
facilities, small manufacturing sites and large industrial complexes.
It serves a region from Vancouver Island to Thunder Bay.

The division's 350-square metre warehouse was extensively renovated to
conform with stringent regulations governing the handling and storage
of chemical products. The division carries about $500,000 in inventory
and handles more than $2 million in sales annually.

"The facility is the first of its kind in Saskatchewan to stock
specialty and fine chemicals for research and development as well as
specialized manufacturing," APPS Division Manager Simon Wood said.
