FLEXI-COIL EXPANSION TO CREATE HUNDREDS OF NEW JOBS

Released on April 19, 1995

Premier Roy Romanow and Economic Development Minister Dwain
Lingenfelter today congratulated Flexi-Coil Ltd. of Saskatoon on the
company's planned $18-million plant expansion, the majority of which
entails expansion of its Saskatoon facility. The expansion will be in
three stages over the next two years and is expected to create about
100 to 200 jobs per year, plus construction and spinoff jobs.

Flexi-Coil is a family-owned private company which manufactures
shortline agricultural equipment for markets in Canada, the United
States, Australia, Europe and South America.

The company, established in 1954 by the Summach family, now has more
than 1,200 employees, making it Canada's largest farm machinery
manufacturer.

Romanow said tax relief measures announced in the recent provincial
budget will accelerate growth and investment by Saskatchewan
manufacturers.

"The nine per cent Investment Tax Credit for capital purchases in
support of manufacturing and processing activity in our province will
help create a climate that encourages growing, innovative companies
such as Flexi-Coil to expand even faster," Romanow said.

"In addition, for Saskatchewan-based companies like Flexi-Coil, the
corporation income tax rate for manufacturing and processing has been
reduced from 17 per cent to as low as 10 per cent, the lowest of any
province in the West. This increases job creation through expansion of
manufacturing and processing in Saskatchewan."

Lingenfelter said fast-growing companies like Flexi-Coil, which are
geared to the export market, are a specific focus of the Partnership
for Renewal economic strategy.

"Flexi-Coil is considered to be a world leader in air seeder and
dryland farming technology, and its advanced agricultural technology
systems and equipment are in demand around the world," Lingenfelter
said. "This is particularly true of new concepts like zero-tillage.
Firms like Flexi-Coil, which are the first to market the most advanced
products, are creating new opportunities and jobs throughout our
province."

Lingenfelter commended the Saskatoon Regional Economic Development
Authority (REDA) for its work with the city of Saskatoon to facilitate
a tax abatement and necessary infrastructure improvement to assist in
the expansion. He said that REDAs can play an important role in
community economic development.
