2026 27 Anglers Guide is Now Online

Released on April 1, 2026

The 2026-27 Saskatchewan Anglers Guide is now available online, giving anglers convenient access to the latest information for the upcoming fishing season. The digital guide can be downloaded to a phone or tablet, making it easy to reference regulations and other important details while out on the water.

"The Guide ensures anglers have the information they need before heading out on the water," Environment Minister Darlene Rowden said. "This year's guide also highlights the new Angling Habitat Certificate, which will support important fisheries programs and help protect the quality of Saskatchewan's fishing opportunities for future generations."

The Saskatchewan Anglers Guide is a key resource outlining provincial fishing regulations, responsible angling practices and a list of waterbodies with specific catch limits and special regulations. The guide also provides helpful information on catch-and-release techniques and ways anglers can help prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species. Printed copies of the guide will be available in early May at Government of Saskatchewan field offices, most provincial park offices and selected retail outlets.

New for the 2026-27 season, the Angling Habitat Certificate will be introduced to support fisheries enhancement and protection through the Fish and Wildlife Development Fund. Annual angling licences will require a $20 certificate, while one and three-day licences will require a $5 certificate. Hunters are already required to purchase a Wildlife Habitat Certificate, so this change aligns angling licences with the province's existing conservation funding model. Individuals who purchase both an annual angling licence and a hunting licence in the same year will only need to purchase one Habitat Certificate.

Please note that season opening dates vary by location. The 2026 angling season opens May 5 in the southern management zone, May 15 in the central management zone and May 25 in the northern management zone.

Anglers under 16 and over 65 do not require a licence to fish in Saskatchewan. Angling licences are available online 24 hours a day, seven days a week and can be stored on a digital device.

Residents and visitors may fish without a licence in provincial waterbodies outside of national parks during the two Free Fishing Weekends: July 11-12, 2026, and February 12-14, 2027. All other regulations still apply during those weekends, including possession limits and reduced limits on some waterbodies.
