The Northern Socio-Economic Benefits Summary describes the activities of northern Saskatchewan's mining companies in meeting their commitments to provide local benefits for northerners from their operations. Such commitments are made under the terms of the companies' respective mineral surface lease agreements and separate human resource development agreements.
Negotiations with mining companies
Each company is required to negotiate a surface lease agreement for its mining project with the ministries of Environment and Government Relations. As well, each company is also required to negotiate a human resource development agreement for its operation with the Ministry of Immigration and Career Training.
