Dustin Duncan a été élu pour la première fois à l’âge de 26 ans aux élections partielles de juin 2006 dans la circonscription de Weyburn-Big Muddy. Il a été réélu dans le cadre des élections provinciales de 2007, 2011 et 2016.
Le 9 novembre 2020, le premier ministre Scott Moe a nommé M. Duncan en tant que ministre de l’Éducation.
Il a précédemment occupé les postes de ministre de l’Environnement, ministre responsable de SaskPower, ministre de l’Énergie et des Ressources, ministre de la Santé, ministre responsable de SaskEnergy, ministre responsable de SaskWater, ministre responsable de la Régie de la plaque tournante de transport mondial (Global Transportation Hub), et ministre responsable de la Saskatchewan Water Security Agency. Il a initialement été nommé au cabinet en mai 2009 comme ministre du Tourisme, des Parcs, de la Culture et du Sport.
Dustin Duncan et sa femme, Amanda, sont originaires de la région de Weyburn où ils ont passé leur enfance et fait leurs études. Ils ont deux fils. M. Duncan a obtenu un grade de premier cycle en histoire de l’Université de Regina.
