David Marit a été élu député provincial de la circonscription de Wood River le 4 avril 2016. Né et ayant grandi dans la région, il entretient des liens très solides avec sa communauté.
Toute sa vie durant, jusqu’en 2019, M. Marit a été un producteur actif. Il est encore à ce jour propriétaire foncier. Il a commencé à siéger au conseil de sa municipalité rurale en 1993 et, en 1999, il a été élu à l’Association des municipalités rurales de la Saskatchewan (SARM) en tant que directeur pour la division 2. Il a ensuite siégé comme vice-président de la SARM, puis comme président jusqu’à ce qu’il soit élu comme député pour le Parti saskatchewanais.
M. Marit est actuellement ministre de l’Agriculture, ministre responsable de la Société d’assurance-récolte de la Saskatchewan (SCIC) et ministre responsable de l’Agence de sécurité de l’eau de la Saskatchewan.
Il a précédemment occupé les fonctions de ministre de la Voirie, ministre de SaskBuilds et de l’Approvisionnement et ministre responsable de la Régie de la plaque tournante de transport mondial (Global Transportation Hub Authority).
David Marit et sa femme Lois ont un fils et avaient une fille, maintenant décédée, qui a fait le bonheur de la famille en mettant au monde leurs deux petites-filles et leur petit-fils.
