Released on May 11, 2017

Deputy Minister to the Premier Alanna Koch today announced changes to the senior leadership of the Saskatchewan Public Service.

Effective May 1, Cam Swan was appointed President and CEO of Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority (SLGA).  Swan has previously served as the Special Advisor to the Deputy Minister to the Premier, Deputy Minister of Environment, Chair of the Public Service Commission, and General Manager of Saskatchewan Crop Insurance Corporation.

Also effective May 1, former SLGA President and CEO Barry Lacey joined Crown Investments Corporation to lead a review on gaming.  Lacey had previously been with SLGA since 2001, serving as both Vice-President and as President and CEO.

Effective June 1, 2017, Rob Currie will be appointed Deputy Minister of Education, pending the retirement of Deputy Minister Julie MacRae.  Currie has served as the Assistant Deputy Minister of Education since 2016 and has more than 30 years of experience as a former educator and later as Director of Education for the Regina Catholic School Division.

“I want to thank Julie for her service to the people of Saskatchewan and congratulate her on her retirement,” Koch said.  “I’d also like to congratulate Rob, Cam, and  Barry on their new positions.  These appointments will ensure strong leadership for the future of the Saskatchewan public service.”
