Doug Kelln to Retire as SaskEnergy President at the End of 2016

Released on July 12, 2016

Kelln Has Served the Crown Sector for 34 Years

Premier Brad Wall today announced that SaskEnergy President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Doug Kelln will be retiring, effective January 2, 2017.

Born and raised in Wadena, Kelln received his Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree from the University of Saskatchewan in 1982.  He then joined the Gas Division of SaskPower until 1988, when he transferred to the organization that became SaskEnergy.  Kelln served in numerous engineering and senior management roles with SaskEnergy and its subsidiary TransGas until his appointment as President and CEO in 2004.

“Under Doug Kelln, SaskEnergy has become an industry leader in safety, an innovator in service delivery, and a vital part of the solid foundation upon which our growing economy has been built,” Wall said.  “Doug’s legacy is a responsive, efficient and reliable utility its customers can count on.  I want to thank Doug for demonstrating the professionalism of the employees within our Crown corporations.”

SaskEnergy’s Board of Directors will lead a competitive process involving candidates from several key industry sectors, in order to have a new President and CEO in place later this year.
