Saskatchewan’s wholesale trade for May 2015 hit $2.3 billion, the highest ever recorded for that month, according to Statistics Canada. On a year-over-year basis, wholesale trade was up 9.8 per cent (seasonally adjusted), the highest percentage increase among the provinces, and well ahead of the 2.9 per cent posted nationally.
“The record figures for May are very encouraging,” Minister of the Economy Bill Boyd said. “The fact that we are up on an annual basis shows Saskatchewan’s economy is moving forward.”
Saskatchewan’s economy continues to create jobs and the province has the lowest unemployment rate in the country. Population is also up, with Saskatchewan having the second fastest growth rate among the provinces.
“More jobs and more people than ever before are other economic indicators which are helping Saskatchewan continue to grow,” Minister Boyd said.
