REPAVING HIGHWAY 1 NEAR INDIAN HEAD

Released on September 12, 2012

Work is complete on $4.5 million worth of improvements to Highway 1 between Indian Head and Qu'Appelle.

Repaving of 17 kilometres (km) on the eastbound lanes from 4 km east of the junction of Highway 56 to the east junction of Highway 35 wrapped up this week. Work started the week of June 18.

"Repaving this section of the Trans Canada Highway makes the road smoother and safer, keeping our highways operating efficiently," Highways and Infrastructure Minister Don McMorris said. "This part of the Trans Canada sees 3,000 vehicles per day, including nearly 900 trucks."

The work is part of the $581.5 million Highways and Infrastructure Budget. About 1,200 km of roads across the province will be improved in this, the first year, of the provincial government's commitment to invest $2.2 billion into the province's highways.
