FULL SPEED AHEAD FOR HIGHWAY CONSTRUCTION

Released on May 30, 2012

Saskatchewan's new Highways and Infrastructure Minister Don McMorris is reminding drivers to be on the lookout for road construction on more than 50 highway improvement projects throughout the province.

"About a dozen projects have been added to a growing list of road maintenance and construction work in the province," McMorris said. "Wet weather has held up a number of projects over the past week, but it's expected that work will resume or begin shortly."

New activity expected to be underway for this update period includes plenty of bridge work on Highway 24 near Spiritwood, Highway 29 near Battleford, Highway 165 over Bear River and Highway 349 near Archerwill. In addition, work is scheduled to get underway on Highway 8 near Moosomin, Highway 14 near Asquith, Highway 35 near Wadena, Highway 155 near Beauval and on the Leroy Access Road near Highway 6.

Motorists are reminded to obey flag persons and slow to 60 km/hr when passing workers and equipment in the Orange Zone.

The weekly construction update is posted to the Highway Hotline Facebook page at www.facebook.com/SaskatchewanHighwayHotline and Tweeted @SKGovHwyHotline.
