WINTER WEIGHTS IN EFFECT IN SOUTHERN SASKATCHEWAN

Released on December 5, 2011

Winter weights are now in effect in southwest and south central Saskatchewan immediately.

The start of winter weight season had been delayed in an area south of Highway 1 and west of Highway 39. The delay was due to the fact that road structures had not sufficiently frozen due to the mild fall weather.

The Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure has been monitoring road conditions since that time and now deem it feasible to allow highways in the region to operate at winter weights.
