The Weekly Provincial Construction Update
As the summer continues, so does highway construction work throughout the province.
"Motorists should always watch for and obey all construction signs - especially at this time of
year when so much work is taking place," Highways and Infrastructure Minister Jim Reiter
said. "Remember, drivers who exceed 60 km/h when passing highway workers and
equipment in the Orange Zone face a base fine of $140."
Work that has recently started includes construction on Highway 1 west of Swift Current,
Highway 1 near Maple Creek, Highway 5 near Englefeld and Highway 349 near Naicam. For
more details and a list of other ongoing projects, please see the attached backgrounder.
Construction work is subject to weather conditions and contractor progress. Motorists can get
other important travel information on the Summer Road Conditions and Road Conditions Map
sections of the Highway Hotline online at www.highways.gov.sk.ca/road-conditions/.
