SASKATCHEWAN RECOGNIZES AVIATION’S VITAL ROLE

Released on November 12, 2008

The province has recognized the important role aviation plays in sustaining the economy and improving quality of life by designating November 10 to 16 as Aviation and Aerospace Week in Saskatchewan.

"The aviation sector and the countless professionals within it, help link communities and businesses with provincial, national and international markets, clients and destinations," Highways and Infrastructure Minister Wayne Elhard said. "Whether it is quickly getting an important component to a facility because of an equipment breakdown, showcasing our beautiful province to visitors or being a base of operations for policing or air ambulances, aviation has a vital role to play."

In conjunction with the week, the Saskatchewan Aviation Council (SAC) and the Saskatchewan Aerial Applicators Association (SAAA) are hosting their annual joint conference and trade show in Regina called Wings of Saskatchewan.

"This conference is a great opportunity for everyone in the aviation sector to share best practices and new ideas, while discussing ways to improve the industry so we can better fulfil our role in the province," SAC president Janet Keim said.

"Aerial applicators play an important part in Saskatchewan's export-driven economy by helping farmers maintain the quality of their products before they are shipped to worldwide markets," SAAA president Joe Varjassy said.

The Wings of Saskatchewan conference and trade show runs from November 12 to 14.
