2001 QUEEN'S COUNSEL APPOINTMENTS

Fourteen Saskatchewan lawyers were honoured with Queen's Counsel (QC)

appointments today.



Queen's Counsel is an honourary designation. Appointees must live in

Saskatchewan and have practised law at least 10 years in the superior

courts of any province or territory of Canada or the United Kingdom and

Ireland.



"I congratulate each of these individuals on receiving the QC designation

for their contribution to the practice of law," Justice Minister Chris

Axworthy said. "These respected members of the Saskatchewan bar are a

credit to their profession and an important asset to their communities and

the province."



The 2001 appointments are:



Keith Boyd is a lawyer with the firm Kanuka Thuringer in Regina.

He was admitted to the bar in 1971.



Ron Gates is a lawyer with the firm of Gates & Company in Regina.

He was admitted to the bar in 1975.



Gwen Gray is the chairperson of the Saskatchewan Labour Relations

Board. She was admitted to the bar in 1979.



Ross Green is a lawyer with the Saskatchewan Legal Aid Commission

in Melfort. He was admitted to the bar in 1986.



Maurice Herauf is the Registrar of the Court of Appeal for

Saskatchewan. He was admitted to the bar in 1987.



Robert Kennedy is a lawyer with the firm of Halyk Kennedy Knox in

Saskatoon. He was admitted to the bar in 1977.



Jan Kernaghan is the Registrar of the Court of Queen's Bench for

Saskatchewan. She was admitted to the bar in 1979.



Alan Logue is a lawyer with the firm of Harradance Logue Holash in

Prince Albert. He was admitted to the bar in 1980.

Fred McBeth is a lawyer with the firm Balfour Moss in Regina. He

was admitted to the bar in 1972.



Michael Milani is a lawyer with the firm of McDougall Gauley in

Regina. He was admitted to the bar in 1981. He is the incoming president

of the Law Society of Saskatchewan.



Richard Morris is a lawyer with the firm of Pedersen, Norman,

McLeod & Todd in Regina. He was admitted to the bar in Saskatchewan in

1968.



W. Randall Rooke is a lawyer with the firm of McDougall Gauley in

Saskatoon. He was admitted to the bar in 1979.



Barry Rossman is a lawyer with the Saskatoon City Solicitor's

Office. He was admitted to the bar in 1980. He is president of the

Canadian Bar Association, Saskatchewan Branch.



Donna Wilson is a lawyer with the firm of Woloshyn & Company in

Saskatoon. She was admitted to the bar in 1986. She is a bencher of the

Law Society.



Individuals receiving the Queen's Counsel designation have been recommended

by a selection committee comprised of the Justice Minister, the Chief

Justice of the Court of Queen's Bench for Saskatchewan or the Chief Justice

of the Court of Appeal (on an alternating basis), and the past presidents

of the Saskatchewan branch of the Canadian Bar Association and the Law

Society of Saskatchewan.
