How to Lease Agricultural Crown Land
The Ministry of Agriculture’s Crown land sale and lease auctions have been paused while the ministry reviews its processes and considers next steps for the future allocation of agricultural Crown lands. The Government of Saskatchewan remains committed to ensuring that agricultural Crown lands are used for agricultural purposes and remain accessible to producers.
Rental Rates
The Crown land grazing rate is set by formula in section 3-5 of The Provincial Land (Agriculture) Regulations using the preceding October and November cattle prices and billed yearly. The 2026 Crown land grazing rental rate is $10.50 per animal unit month (AUM).
Cultivation rates are communicated to lessees in the spring of each year. Rental rates on saleable cultivated and previously cultivated lands have a 45 per cent increase above the formula rate. The rate increase does not apply to grazing co-operatives, former federal (PFRA) or transitioned Saskatchewan Pastures Program pastures.
