Google Translate Disclaimer

Where an official translation is not available, Google™ Translate can be used. Google™ Translate is a free online language translation service that can translate text and web pages into different languages. Translations are made available to increase access to Government of Saskatchewan content for populations whose first language is not English.

Software-based translations do not approach the fluency of a native speaker or possess the skill of a professional translator. The translation should not be considered exact, and may include incorrect or offensive language. The Government of Saskatchewan does not warrant the accuracy, reliability or timeliness of any information translated by this system. Some files or items cannot be translated, including graphs, photos and other file formats such as portable document formats (PDFs).

Any person or entities that rely on information obtained from the system does so at his or her own risk. Funded Programs for French Studies

Students in grades 8 to 12 who are interested in exploring another Francophone region of Canada while learning or practicing their French-language skills are welcome to apply for Destination Clic or Explore.

Participants in these programs receive a bursary and are able to practice their French-language skills through a variety of workshops, classes and cultural activities, with most costs covered.

1. Destination Clic

Destination Clic is a government-funded three-week summer program for Francophone (French first-language) students in Grades 8, 9, and 10, who attend a French-language minority school and live outside of Quebec. These students may travel to an institution located in a Francophone setting to improve their French-language skills, meet other Francophones who are their age from across Canada, and strengthen their Francophone roots.

Over $2,000 of costs are covered for students to participate in the Destination Clic program.

Please note: These funds are transferred directly to the institution you will be attending and are considered taxable income for which you will receive a tax receipt.

2. Explore

The Explore program is a government-funded program offered in the spring and summer for students of any skill level in French. It allows students to travel to and discover another region and culture in Canada through workshops, cultural activities, classroom instruction and field trips.

  • Explore 16+ is a five-week program, offered both in-person and virtually during the spring and summer. Over $3,000 of costs are covered for students to participate in an in-person Explore program.
  • The Youth Explore program, for 13-15 year-olds, lasts three weeks in the summer, with a similar structure and the same goals. Over $2,000 of costs are covered for students 13-15 years old to participate in an in-person Explore program.

Please note: For both Explore programs, these funds are transferred directly to the institution you will be attending and are considered taxable income for which you will receive a tax receipt.
