Visit Scotty’s Home At The T.Rex Discovery Centre In Eastend

The original home of Scotty, the largest T.rex ever discovered, will roar back to life for the summer at the T.rex Discovery Centre beginning Saturday, May 18.

“Who knew this exciting excavation 25 years ago would turn Scotty into an international star,” Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Gene Makowsky said.  “Visiting Eastend allows Saskatchewan residents to see Scotty’s home and where this creature walked millions of years ago.  It also is a great spot to take your family and friends to see what the town of Eastend and the Discovery Centre have to offer.”

The T.rex Discovery Centre is located in the Town of Eastend, situated along Highway 13 between Highways 37 and 21, in the southwest corner of the province, in the beautiful Frenchman River Valley.  Guests can partake in many festivities, tour the new scenic walking trail around the Discovery Centre and shop for unique, local Saskatchewan artistry at The Discovery Shop.

The Discovery Centre, operated by the Royal Saskatchewan Museum will open this Saturday on International Museum Day with family friendly events throughout the day, including a BBQ Hot Dog lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., along with guided tours and activities for children.

Other activities being offered this summer include: a Canada Rocks celebration on July 1, Dino Days on July 26-28, the 25th Anniversary Celebration of the Excavation of Scotty on July 27, and Scotty’s 65,000,028 Birthday on August 16.  For more information on these activities and more, visit www.royalsaskmuseum.ca/trex.

The T.rex Discovery Centre has so much to offer.  From Scotty and other creatures from the late Cretaceous period (76-66 million years ago) through life in Saskatchewan after the dinosaurs disappeared, to experiencing a real meteorite up close – there is so much for everyone to see.  The T.rex Discovery Centre, located at #1 T-rex Drive in Eastend, is open daily from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. until Labour Day.  Visit.
