Saskatchewan Provincial Parks will offer a variety of fun and free programming starting this Canada Day Long Weekend and through the entire summer.
“Saskatchewan’s provincial parks are where people go to spend time connecting with nature, friends and family,” Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Gene Makowsky said. “With countless activities, great amenities and a variety of programs, I encourage everyone to celebrate our great nation in one of our many Saskatchewan Provincial Parks.”
During Canada Day, each park will celebrate in their own way, but some activities include pancake breakfasts, parades, face painting, sandcastle competitions, cake, concerts and other daytime activities with many parks wrapping up the evening with fireworks.
For many, the Canada Day Long Weekend kicks off a summer of fun and provincial parks offer the venue and the programming to accommodate. New this year, many parks will be offering Knockerball, which is a human-sized bubble ball that is worn for sport, activity or just plain chaos.
In all Saskatchewan Provincial Parks, a Collect and Win Survival Series will be offered to test visitor knowledge on building fires, wayfinding, shelter building and more. Participants have the opportunity to win one of five annual park entry permits for 2020.
