Prince Albert Centre Of Responsibility To End Operations

Released on April 2, 2019

After considerable thought, Community Mobilization Prince Albert has made the decision to close the Prince Albert Centre of Responsibility.  Operations will officially cease on June 28, 2019.

“The local steering committee has decided to shut down the Centre of Responsibility,” Corrections and Policing Minister Christine Tell said.  “I want to thank everyone who was a part of this initiative.  Our government remains committed to supporting both the Hub in Prince Albert, and Hub tables across the province.”

This support includes a plan to commit resources to provide a provincial Centre of Responsibility, located internally in the Ministry of Corrections and Policing.  The provincial Centre of Responsibility will provide Hub tables across the province with data analytics and other support previously provided to Prince Albert by the Prince Albert Centre of Responsibility.

“The steering committee recognized the challenge of committing the human resources required to achieve the goals of the Prince Albert Centre of Responsibility and made the challenging decision to end current operations to allow for consideration of a renewed model,” Prince Albert Centre of Responsibility Steering Committee Co-Chair Tom Michaud said.  “We want to thank the Centre of Responsibility team in Prince Albert for the positive impact they have had in our community.  All steering committee partners remain committed to the Prince Albert Hub table.”

Hubs are networks of community and government agencies that work together to address the unique needs of at-risk individuals and families.  The Centre of Responsibility model supports this work by using the information gathered through Hub tables to evaluate trends that impact community safety and well-being.  The shift to a Centre of Responsibility within the Ministry of Corrections and Policing will ensure that this important work continues.

The Hub model, pioneered in Prince Albert, has expanded across Saskatchewan, and today there are currently 14 Hub tables serving 15 communities in the province.

Additionally, three First Nation communities in Saskatchewan have adapted the Hub model to create the Intervention Circle model.
