The Royal Saskatchewan Museum’s (RSM) current exhibit, ZOOM, will close on October 25 to allow for the construction that will bring Scotty, the T.rex, to the Queen City.
The ZOOM exhibit uses innovative technology including cutting-edge imaging systems and 3-D printing to allow visitors to zoom in on some of nature’s most beautiful secrets. The RSM is open on the long weekend and provides a great opportunity to visit this exciting exhibit one last time.
“The RSM is a great place to host family and friends over the long weekend,” Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Gene Makowsky said. “ZOOM is an exciting and educational exhibit for people of all ages, and with the upcoming arrival of Scotty, time is ticking to check it out!”
Following the closure of ZOOM, the RSM will start construction that will create an opening in the second floor to make room for Scotty, the T.rex. The internationally famous Tyrannosaurus rex is believed to be the largest T.rex ever discovered, right here in Saskatchewan 27 years ago. Renovations will also include expanded public gathering spaces in the lobby and exhibit level as well as an area to deliver school programs.
The RSM, located at 2445 Albert Street, is open daily from 9:30 a.m. until 5 p.m.
