Crown Corporations

A Crown corporation is an enterprise that is owned by the Crown or the King in the right of a province. The corporation is established through legislation and reports to the government through a minister, who chairs its board of directors.

There are two categories of Crown corporations in Saskatchewan: Treasury Board Crowns and Crown Investments Corporation (CIC) Subsidiary Crowns. Treasury Board Crowns report to government through boards of directors to Treasury Board, while the CIC Subsidiary Crowns are commercial entities reporting to CIC and its board of directors.
