Child Abuse Prevention Education

The Child Abuse Prevention Education and Response Policy Statement supports school divisions to implement a comprehensive approach to preventing and responding to child abuse. This approach will ensure:

  • students develop the skills necessary to lead a safe and healthy lifestyle;
  • school personnel are supported in the identification and reporting of child abuse; and
  • families, guardians and school personnel are linked to healing supports.

To support teaching and professional development within school divisions, the Ministry of Education has provided a list of print and web-based resources on the curriculum website. For teachers, the learning resources can be sorted by grade level and by curriculum outcome. Resources can also be filtered by content; for example, sexual abuse and exploitation.

To support the identification and reporting of child abuse, please refer to The Saskatchewan Child Abuse Protocol and the accompanying online training module, Saskatchewan Duty to Report.
