The Child Abuse Prevention Education and Response Policy Statement supports school divisions to implement a comprehensive approach to preventing and responding to child abuse. This approach will ensure:
- students develop the skills necessary to lead a safe and healthy lifestyle;
- school personnel are supported in the identification and reporting of child abuse; and
- families, guardians and school personnel are linked to healing supports.
To support teaching and professional development within school divisions, the Ministry of Education has provided a list of print and web-based resources on the curriculum website. For teachers, the learning resources can be sorted by grade level and by curriculum outcome. Resources can also be filtered by content; for example, sexual abuse and exploitation.
