As outlined in The Oil and Gas Conservation Act, and The Oil and Gas Conservation Regulations, 2012, an operator must perform an annulus test at least once every calendar year on all oil and gas injection and disposal wells (suspended and non-active) equipped with a downhole packer.
Completed test data must be recorded on an Annulus Test Form, and be retained by the operator for five years. The Ministry of Energy and Resources may request a copy of the test data for compliance auditing purposes.
