The Horse Biosecurity Guide was developed by the Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture and the Saskatchewan Horse Federation. Horse owners are encouraged to use the guide to improve biosecurity practices to help reduce diseases being carried onto farms and stables. The guidebook also provides information on:
- Disease exposure;
- Vaccination;
- Cleaning and disinfection;
- Access control;
- Managing new arrivals and visiting horses;
- Insect and rodent control; and
- Indicators of an emergency disease situation.
Also included are important references for learning more about biosecurity, including the National Farm and Facility Level Biosecurity Standard for the Equine Sector.
