About the SATC
Update January 5, 2023By mid-January, more cheques will be on their way to eligible Saskatchewan residents who have not yet received the Saskatchewan Affordability Tax Credit (SATC).
Late Income Tax Filers: Cheques will be in the mail by January 13, 2023, for 2021 income tax returns that were filed and assessed by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) by October 23, 2022. The Ministry of Finance is waiting on the last set of data for those who filed with the CRA between October 24 and October 31, 2022, which was the deadline for eligibility for the SATC. Once the ministry receives that data, the cheques will be printed and prepared for mail out.
Incorrect addresses/returned cheques: A number of cheques have been returned to the ministry. If you have provided an alternate address to SATC program administration, your cheque will be redirected with the updated address by the end of January.
Addresses are from the CRA, based on tax returns. If you have changed addresses since filing your taxes and didn’t receive your SATC, please email your updated address to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Saskatchewan Affordability Tax Credit (SATC) program offers a one-time $500 payment to all eligible Saskatchewan residents to help address inflationary pressures and the resulting impact on the cost of living. The SATC is a refundable, non-taxable tax credit that will be delivered outside of the tax system to expedite payments to all eligible recipients. The SATC is administered by the Ministry of Finance.
- The SATC is a one-time payment of $500 to all eligible Saskatchewan residents regardless of their level of income or if they receive social assistance benefits from the Government of Saskatchewan.
- The vast majority of SATC payments are expected to be sent by mail to eligible recipients in November 2022.
You are eligible to receive the SATC if you meet all the following criteria:
- You have filed an income tax return for the 2021 tax year by October 31, 2022;
- You filed your 2021 tax return as a resident of Saskatchewan; and
- You are 18 years of age or older as of December 31, 2022.
How to Get the Payment
- There is no need to formally apply.
- If you meet all of the SATC eligibility criteria, you automatically qualify to receive the one-time $500 payment via a cheque sent by mail to the residence listed on your 2021 tax return.
- To update your mailing address, please contact the SATC administration centre by email at email@example.com or by phone at 1-800-667-6102. To update your address, you must provide the following information:
- Your full legal name;
- Your date of birth;
- Your Social Insurance Number (SIN); and
- Your address as it appears on your 2021 tax return.
