Woodland Caribou Range Plan SK2West
The Government of Saskatchewan asked the public for feedback on a draft range plan for woodland caribou in the western portion of the province's Boreal Plain (SK2 West). The plan identifies objectives, measures, tools and targets to manage woodland caribou habitat to support healthy populations, along with several management actions and approaches.
The 60-day review period ran from December 10, 2019, to February 8, 2020.
The boreal population of woodland caribou is listed as a threatened species under the federal Species at Risk Act.
The goal of the Saskatchewan Woodland Caribou Range Planning program is to achieve a self-sustaining woodland caribou population by maintaining and improving habitat, while allowing for continued economic growth in northern Saskatchewan.
