From December 15, 2021 to February 11, 2022, the Energy Regulation Division of the Ministry of Energy and Resources consulted with stakeholders on a proposed new directive known as Directive PNG045: Acknowledgement of Reclamation for Sodium Chloride-Impacted Sites. This directive aims to provide guidance on the mitigation of sodium chloride impacts to oil and gas sites to bring sodium chloride-impacted sites to regulatory closure in a timely and cost-effective manner.
