Amendments to Municipal Regulations

The Ministry of Government Relations is seeking input on the following regulations:

Regulations under the three municipal Acts consist of mostly operational provisions relating to cities, rural municipalities, towns, villages, resort villages and northern municipalities.

This consultation work follows amendments to the three municipal Acts that are currently before the Legislature (Bill 194) and are expected to receive assent in the spring 2020 session.

Please provide your input on the municipal regulations shown below before April 30, 2020.

The ministry will review the responses and report back on what we heard. A summary of the submissions and next steps will be posted on the website in May 2020.

3. Public Accounts for Municipalities

Amendments to The Municipalities Act and The Northern Municipalities Act, 2010 will result in regulations requiring all municipalities to prepare and make available their public accounts each year.
