The Government of Saskatchewan continues to ensure the safety of Meadow Lake communities and families through Municipal Police Grants. This provincial contribution of $770,000 will fund seven existing Meadow Lake RCMP positions in 2017-18.
“The Government of Saskatchewan is committed to community safety,” Meadow Lake MLA Jeremy Harrison said on behalf of Justice Minister and Attorney General Don Morgan. “The seven RCMP officers in the community of Meadow Lake will help to ensure that families are safe.”
The Municipal Police Grant supports enhanced community policing throughout the city in the areas of chronic offenders, youth education programs, illegal drug activity, and traffic safety. These programs support the core work of the Meadow Lake Police and work to ensure a safer community.
“We are grateful for the province’s ongoing support through the Municipal Police Grants,” Meadow Lake Mayor Gary Vidal said. “These funds allow us to better respond to the challenges and opportunities related to improving community safety in our region.”
The provincial government provides funds to urban police services across the province to support 128 municipal police positions and policing initiatives. In combination with the Provincial Response Team, these grants fulfill the government’s commitment to supporting the policing services within the province’s municipalities.
