CONTEST TAKES FLIGHT AS 100 DAY COUNTDOWN TO CENTENNIAL BEGINS

Released on May 27, 2005

Saskatchewan residents could be jetting their loved ones back home for the province's official birthday celebrations that are now just 100 days away, or for any of the hundreds of events that are planned during the centennial year. Saskatchewan Centennial 2005 and WestJet are partnering on a new promotion, "Home is Where the Heart is".

"Saskatchewan residents are ready to roll the welcome mat out for friends and family to join in our celebrations," Saskatchewan Centennial 2005 Chair and Moose Jaw North MLA Glenn Hagel said. "The centennial spirit is already flying high in our province and this WestJet promotion will see it really soar."

Through the "Home is Where the Heart is" contest, WestJet is offering eight exciting prize packages. Each prize package allows a Saskatchewan resident to fly two people to Saskatchewan for free (excluding third-party taxes and fees) during 2005, from any city in Canada or the United States that is served by WestJet. Entry forms are being distributed to households across the province beginning next week, along with 1.5 million postcards that people can use to invite people home for the centennial. Entries and postcards are also available online at www.sask2005.ca/contest.

"WestJet has been flying into Saskatchewan since our first year of operations nine years ago," WestJet's Executive Vice-President, Marketing and Sales Sean Durfy said. "Our history with Saskatchewan is as long as our history as an airline, which is why we are especially proud to partner with the province for this Saskatchewan Centennial 2005 promotion. We look forward to bringing many Saskatchewanians home to celebrate the centennial."

"In just 100 days, we'll officially celebrate our province's 100th birthday and many Saskatchewan residents want to bring family and friends back home to join in the September 4th celebrations, including the amazing provincewide fireworks display," Hagel said. "With over 2,500 events happening during our centennial year there is no shortage of opportunity for people to celebrate our centennial. The 'Home is Where the Heart is' promotion provides one more great reason to bring people home to reconnect with each other and with their province in 2005."

Additional centennial event information and details of the "Home is Where the Heart is" contest are available on the Saskatchewan Centennial 2005 website at www.sask2005.ca.
