Released on May 20, 2005

Today Her Majesty The Queen honoured three members of the provincial staff for the 2005 visit of The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh to Saskatchewan.

Michael Jackson, Chief of Protocol and Royal Visit Co-ordinator, was invested by The Queen as a Commander of the Royal Victorian Order (CVO), the highest rank in the Order open to Canadians. Her Majesty made Mr. Jackson a Lieutenant of the Royal Victorian Order on her last visit to Saskatchewan in 1987.

Debbie Saum, programme co-ordinator for the visit, was invested as a Member of the Royal Victorian Order (MVO).

Russ Marchuk, logistics co-ordinator, received the Royal Victorian Medal (RVM).

"It is a great honour for Mr. Jackson, Ms. Saum and Mr. Marchuk to receive this special public recognition from The Queen," Provincial Secretary Joan Beatty said. "The Province appreciates their services in making this Royal Visit memorable and successful."

The Royal Victorian Order and the Royal Victorian Medal are awarded by The Queen for personal services to the Sovereign and the Royal Family and are also part of Canada's national honours.
