RESPONSIBLE GAMING INFORMATION CENTRE OPENS AT CASINO REGINA

Released on July 13, 2005

The Saskatchewan Gaming Corporation officially opened the Responsible Gaming Information Centre at Casino Regina today – only the second of its kind in Canada. The Responsible Gaming Information Centre will advocate the responsible use of gaming products by providing information to guests at both Casino Regina and Casino Moose Jaw.

"We recognize that for some individuals the gaming experience can become a problem," Saskatchewan Gaming Corporation President and CEO Marty Klyne said. "We are strongly committed to promoting responsible gaming in our casinos and therefore the Responsible Gaming Information Centre will provide information, access to community resources and assistance to those who seek help."

In addition to providing information about gambling and other entertainment options, the centre will also assist with the Voluntary Banning Program at Casinos Regina and Moose Jaw, where guests may opt to ban themselves from casinos in Saskatchewan.

The centre is staffed by an employee who has received training in problem gambling intervention and education. This employee will provide information to people about gaming, so they can make informed choices. The employee can also assist those concerned about someone else's gambling and provide referrals to community resources for help.

In addition to the Responsible Gaming Information Centre employee, the floor staff at Casinos Regina and Moose Jaw will also be trained in responsible gaming on an on-going basis.

SGC recognizes the important contributions of Saskatchewan Health, Manitoba Lottery Corporation and the Addictions Foundation of Manitoba for their partnerships in offering training to SGC staff and assistance in creating the centre.

SGC works hard to support community initiatives, which includes working closely with the Saskatchewan Responsible Gaming Association, Canadian Mental Health Association, Regina Committee on Problem Gambling and the Moose Jaw Committee on Problem Gambling to raise awareness and offer support in the area of responsible gaming.

"Our efforts will continue to be on-going in the area of responsible gaming as this is another example of our high standards of corporate integrity and responsibility that we strive for and maintain," Klyne said. "Opening the Responsible Gaming Information Centre is just one of the steps forward in this important area."

In addition to the Responsible Gaming Information Centre, SGC also promotes responsible gaming on all promotions within and external to the casinos
