EXTRA OPPORTUNITY TO HUNT ANTLERLESS MULE DEER

Released on August 11, 2005

There are going to be 3,300 extra chances to get an antlerless mule deer during the fall 2005 hunting season. That's how many antlerless mule deer licences are left over from the 2005 Big Game Draw. Antlerless mule deer are does or young deer born in spring 2005.

The licences become available on August 15th and will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis.

"This is a great opportunity for someone who is looking for a way to spend more time hunting," Saskatchewan Environment licence specialist Brenda Kelly said. "Hunters who don't already hold an antlerless mule deer license will be able to buy two licences. Hunters who already hold an antlerless mule deer licence will be able to buy one extra licence. Some licences will allow the holder to take two antlerless mule deer. Last year, 1,900 licences were left over from the Big Game Draw and over 1,200 of them were sold. We are also expecting another good response this year."

Antlerless mule deer licences cost $20 and will be available by calling Saskatchewan Environment at (306) 787-1288.

More information, including the number of licences available in each hunting zone, can be found on Saskatchewan Environment's website at www.se.gov.sk.ca/fishwild.
