SASKWATER SUPPORTS SASKATCHEWAN'S YOUNG PROFESSIONALS

Released on April 27, 2005

The SaskWater Scholarship Fund is offering scholarships for 2005 to eligible students pursuing an Engineering or Business degree.

"SaskWater is committed to building careers for young Saskatchewan professionals. This commitment begins with education," Minister responsible for SaskWater Peter Prebble said. "Helping Saskatchewan students realize their post-secondary goals will ensure the availability of skilled professionals as future employees."

The SaskWater Scholarship Fund is a five-year, $30,000 scholarship agreement with the University of Regina and the University of Saskatchewan. The fund, entering its second year, is unique in that it is designed for upper year students who have completed two years toward their degree in good academic standing.

Scholarship recipients in 2004 were Elizabeth Nguyen, a fourth year Administration student from the University of Regina, and Edwin Zhang, a third year Engineering Physics student from the University of Saskatchewan.

Scholarship criteria and 2005 applications are available on–line at www.saskwater.com. The deadline for applications is June 1st.

In addition to the scholarship fund, SaskWater is also a partner in Gradworks, the Crown Investment Corporation's Intern Development program. The Gradworks programs works with Saskatchewan Crown corporations to recruit talented, high-potential graduates eager to put their education to work as paid employees in internship learning opportunities.

The program offers recent post-secondary graduates an opportunity to experience an internship of 12 months in length throughout the network of Saskatchewan Crown corporations. In April, SaskWater posted five intern positions on the Gradworks website, www.gradworks.ca.
