TENTATIVE COLLECTIVE AGREEMENT REACHED WITH TEACHERS

Released on April 15, 2005

Learning Minister Andrew Thomson today offered his congratulations to the members of the government/trustee and teacher bargaining committees for reaching a tentative collective agreement.

"I believe we have a tentative agreement that meets the needs of students, teachers, school boards and all Saskatchewan taxpayers. I am particularly pleased we were able to reach this agreement without any job action," Thomson said.

The current collective agreement expired on August 31st, 2004. Negotiations for a new agreement began in April 2004 and concluded this afternoon with a tentative agreement. Details of the agreement will be released after the ratification vote by teachers. The date of the vote will be set by the Saskatchewan Teachers' Federation.
