'ONE STOP' SHOP FOR SASKATOON BUSINESS
Released on May 17, 2002
A centre that helps businesses in Saskatoon and area got a lot stronger
today with the addition of two high-profile partners.
The Saskatoon Region Enterprise Centre is now home to the Canada-
Saskatchewan Business Service Centre (CSBSC) and the Saskatoon regional
office of Industry and Resources.
They join six other organizations providing business information and
development services to Saskatoon area businesses and co-operatives,
enabling them to start or expand their enterprises and create more jobs for
local residents.
In the case of the CSBSC, that service is province-wide. Operated by
Western Economic Diversification Canada and Saskatchewan Industry and
Resources, the CSBSC provides comprehensive business information service to
potential and existing entrepreneurs across Saskatchewan.
"How do we strengthen and diversify our economy and make it more
innovative - through partnerships like those at the Canada-Saskatchewan
Business Service Centre," Secretary of State (Western Economic
Diversification) (Indian Affairs and Northern Development) Stephen Owen
said. "Innovation is about small and medium-sized businesses - so vital to
our economic growth - getting better access to new ideas and products.
Through the centre, we are ensuring all Canadians are equipped with the
tools they need to participate fully in our economy."
"With its new partners, the Enterprise Centre is now the prime address for
business information, advice and support in Saskatoon," Industry and
Resources Minister Eldon Lautermilch said. "This co-location builds on our
commitment in Partnership for Prosperity to establish more one-stop, full-
service business centres. We're creating new partnerships for business
advice - advice that will help entrepreneurs build our economy and create
more jobs for Saskatchewan people."
Other partners in the Saskatoon Region Enterprise Centre include the
Saskatoon and District Chamber of Commerce, the Saskatoon Regional Economic
Development Authority, The Partnership, the Provincial Exporters
Association, the Canadian Youth Business Foundation and Leadership
Saskatoon.
By putting business services under one roof, the Enterprise Centre's
tenants are improving efficiency in the development and delivery of
business services to Saskatoon and surrounding area, and in the case of the
CSBSC, the entire province. The Enterprise Centre will provide such
services as business counselling, marketing and promotion assistance, and
access to government information and services.
The Saskatoon Region Enterprise Centre is located at 345 - 3rd Avenue South
in Saskatoon.
