The new liquor store at the Normanview Mall in Regina officially opened today
with a customer service innovation new to Saskatchewan.
The new 12,000 square foot store is located in the Normanview Mall parking lot,
in a freestanding building, which is leased by the authority, at the corner of
Ninth Avenue North and McCarthy Boulevard. To expand service to customers, the
store's hours of operation have been extended, to 9:30 a.m. until 9 p.m. Monday
to Saturday and the store will now carry all 1,600 products carried by the
Authority.
For the first time in this province, customers can bottle their own wines, in-
store. The "bottle-your-own" concept will provide customers with a variety of
wines, at good value, and also allow customers to customize labels for special
occasions. Six varieties of wines - three red, two white and one blush - will
initially be offered through the bulk wine operation.
"I believe customers in northwest Regina will be pleased with the bright, open
concept of the new store, its location, longer hours and the customer service
innovations offered," Minister Responsible for the Saskatchewan Liquor and
Gaming Authority Doreen Hamilton said. "This contemporary new liquor store,
with all of its customer service initiatives, will be well-received in Regina."
Following a survey of 1,200 northwest Regina liquor store customers in November
1998, a decision was made to move from a smaller location in the mall to a more
easily accessible and larger location.
