BETTER CUSTOMER SERVICE AT MOOSE JAW'S SGI SALVAGE

Released on June 7, 2000

Crown Investments Corporation (CIC) Minister John Nilson helped cut the ribbon

today to officially open the new SGI Moose Jaw Salvage operations facility that

will improve service for SGI customers.

"The increased yard space and larger facility means more stock will be kept at

the Moose Jaw site instead of being processed and shipped to other operations

like Regina," CIC Minister John Nilson said. "With 75 per cent more parts on

hand, customers won't have to wait as long for their parts request to be

processed."

The bigger yard will make it a lot easier for customers who want to view

vehicles because staff will be able to take them directly to a single storage

space. The new facility provides space for a larger garage, which means more

vehicles will be processed at the same time.

The 1,356 square metre (14,600 square foot) building sits on 1.6 hectares (four

acres) of land on the 300 block of the North Service Road in Moose Jaw. It

provides sales, salvage and claims compounds, along with paved customer and

staff parking.

Construction of the new facility started in August, 1999. Parts and vehicles

were relocated and the office was open for business in mid-February. The old

salvage building has already been sold, while the old compound is listed for

sale.

Over the years, the operation has grown and expanded. Since its first full

year of operation in 1972, the Moose Jaw branch has gone from processing 246

vehicles a year to the current average of 1,600 per year.

"Customer service has been enhanced by additional space and speedier service,"

Nilson said. "This means the SGI Salvage business will be able to continue

growing and serve even more people in the province."
